Job Description:

OverviewProvides direct psychiatric evaluation, medical assessment and intervention to clients admitted to Behavioral Health programs. Provides medication management and assessment on an ongoing basis. Provides consultation and education to other agencies and disciplines, including other VNS Health services. Assists in the overall management of the CMHS program. Acts as a key resource in providing clinical and operational guidance and support to assigned teams and other staff to achieve and enhance team outcomes. Provides advanced nursing clinical care for clients in accordance with current State and Federal rules and regulations for nurse practitioner scope of practice and national standards of care. Works under general direction.Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing high quality nursing care to patients with psychiatric or psychological problems consistent with Agency philosophy, Agency policy and Standards of Nursing Practice. Works under moderate supervision.
• Licensure: License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• Valid drivers license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs.
• Education: Bachelors degree in nursing from a state approved diploma program, OR, Associates degree with at least one year of experience as a full-time staff nurse in a medical-surgical nursing area required.
• Masters degree in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
• EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year experience in a Homecare environment or recent graduate of a nursing internship program required.QualificationsFor candidates with a Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing, a minimum of two years of recent inpatient, outpatient or home care psychiatric experience OR successful completion of a Psychiatric Nursing Clinical Certification program or psychiatric nursing school program required. For candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, a minimum of one year experience in a mental health or home care psychiatric setting OR successful completion of a Psychiatric Nursing Clinical Certification program or psychiatric nursing school program required. Bilingual skills may be required, as determined by operational needs.
