Reports to: Director of PurchasingLocation: Amityville, NY

This person needs a strong background in mechanical parts buying and electro-mechanical items buying for a high volume commercial product manufacturer. Requirements:

• Must have extensive knowledge in buying:(a) Sheet metal parts, zinc and stainless steel castings, screw machine parts, metal stampings, springs, plastic resins, plastic injection molds, tool & dies, bulb sheet metal in coil and sheet.(b) NRE tooling processes with 1st article support through qualification approvals & initial production runs.(c) Secondary outside Labor operations/polishing & finishes.1) Awareness of ANSI GRADE requirements and/or BHMA Certified requirements a plus.
  
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a high volume manufacturing environment or in a mechanical, industrial purchasing group.
  
• Must have strong domestic and international contacts and a working knowledge of materials, equipment and supplier capabilities.
  
• Experience with global sourcing, supplier selection and evaluations a plus.
  
• Must be able to read drawings of mechanical parts.
  
• Proficient in Infor and AS400, or equivalent MRP computer system is necessary.
  
• Self-starter, proven leadership, strong negotiator, highly motivated, detailed oriented, and well organized.
  
• Must be mechanically inclined with hands-on experience a plus.
  
• Preferred B.A. or B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business.
