Job Description:

Job Summary:This position provides paralegal support for Assigned Risk Solutions (ARS) attorneys. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding complex legal research and process improvement; prepares pleadings and motions; and under general attorney supervision, facilitates the discovery process, including obtaining records, reviewing documents, interviewing clients, preparing trial materials, and summarizing and analyzing research. Key Responsibilities:Reviews new file assignments, drafts initial pleadings (e.g. answer, motion, etc.), and drafts discoveryPrepares brief to assist client in presenting case in small claims courtAssists with the collection, processing and review of discovery, including medical recordsAssists attorney in preparing materials for trial, arbitration or mediationServes as a subject matter expert on legal research and process improvementsCommunicates, researches and obtains information and documents for local, state and federal courtsConsults with outside counsel and Plaintiff's Counsel, as neededOversees office or Complex project management, coordination, and collaboration with department and business clients, as neededConsults and interviews relevant parties for matters or cases (e.g. witnesses, clients, employees, etc.)Mentors and develops Office Support StaffSupervisory Responsibilities:This job does not have supervisory dutiesPreferred Qualifications:Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in related field or American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Certificate8+ years of related experienceCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsAmerican Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal CertificateFunctional SkillsAdvanced writing, researching, proofreading, and formatting skillsAbility to draft memoranda, correspondences, minutes, disclosure documents, pleadings, and motions Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processesAnalytical skills and strong attention to detailAbility to identify, prioritize and solve problems effectively regarding basic mattersBasic budget management skills and ability to reconcile expense reportsIntermediate/Advanced project management skills and experience interacting with law firm/vendorsStrong interpersonal skills, advanced written and oral communication and effective customer service skillsAbility to identify inconsistencies in routine work and initiate corrective action within own workflowAdapts well to change; able to multi-task and make effective decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment#LI-JG1National General Holdings Corp. is an Equal Opportunity (EO) employer - Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories.
