the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find
a qualified OR RN in Bronx, New York, 10457! Job Title: Operating
Room Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 14
weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years or more
of OR experience preferred License: Current licensure as a
Registered Nurse in the State of New York Certifications: Basic
Life Support Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Certification Must-Have: Must scrub and circulate; required to work
weekends and holidays as needed Description: Operating Room nurses
provide 1:1 patient care before, during, and after surgery. Cases
may include general surgery, orthopedics, vascular, ENT,
ophthalmology, urology, endoscopy, and GYN. Provide direct patient
care to patient populations ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
Demonstrate knowledge of anesthetic drugs, their actions, and side
effects. Demonstrate knowledge of arterial lines, Swan-Ganz,
spinal, and epidural catheters and how to document appropriately.
Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient care addressing
psychosocial, physical, and general aspects related to the surgical
environment plan of care. Demonstrate appropriate prioritization in
performing circulating duties, including in emergency situations.
Properly open sterile items and transfer them correctly to the
sterile field. Correctly pour sterile solutions into the sterile
field, ensuring all medications and solutions are labeled. Perform
and document all surgical counts as per standards and procedures.
Oversee the flash sterilization of items, ensuring sterility with
the process parameters, documentation, and transfer of those items
to the sterile field. Properly handle, document, and label all
surgical specimens and cultures. Demonstrate proper ordering,
handling, and administration of blood products and blood work.
Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to safely operate mechanical,
electrical, and powered equipment according to manufacturer's
instructions. Communicate continuously and as needed with the
surgeon and anesthesiologist about patient conditions. Follow and
maintain surgical standards, universal precautions, and
departmental procedures for pre-operative, intra-operative, and
