Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste
management in the Northeast U.S., is seeking a dedicated Diesel
Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of waste management
vehicles. As a Diesel Mechanic at Interstate, you will play a
crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our services,
which are vital to effective waste management and environmental
sustainability in the communities we serve. Perform routine
diagnostic checks on trucks, identifying any faults and
implementing preventive maintenance measures. Maintain and repair
diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems in
waste collection vehicles. Test machinery to confirm proper
functioning after repair work. Document detailed records of
serviced vehicles and inventory management for parts and supplies.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and
standards in maintenance practices. Train and mentor junior
mechanics and assistants. Strong understanding of diesel engine
components and operation. Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools
and maintenance equipment. Ability to work under pressure and
handle physically demanding tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills
and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamworking
abilities. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life
Insurance 401k Valid ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)
Certification in Diesel Mechanics is preferred. Commercial Driver’s
License (CDL) is a plus.
